How to Prepare for A Flight

Flying can be a fantastic way to get to your desired international vacation destination but despite the fact that flights have been designed with convenience in mind, there are still certain things you need to do in order to prepare for them. Here, we run through a few things you need to do in order to make sure your flight goes smoothly.

Food
Each airline creates a different flying experience. Hopefully, food will be included in the price of your flight at no additional cost to yourself. However, if food is not provided, be careful because the lack of competition means that in-flight food can be expensive. If you’re trying to stick to a budget, make sure you bring plenty of snacks and drinks with you. It’s best to get drinks in the airport as there will be a liquid limit for your hand luggage. Water in particular is a must have for flights as you can easily become dehydrated due to the air-conditioned environment of airplanes. It’s a good idea to take some sweets to suck on too as they can help to ease the discomfort caused by the pressure in the airplane cabin, particularly during take-off and landing.

Luggage
If you’re only flying with hand luggage, it can be a little trickier to prepare for your flight. There is a strict liquid limit and if you exceed it your liquids will be confiscated. Your case must also not exceed a certain size so make sure you do your research before packing. If you are taking additional luggage however, the rules are more relaxed. One great tip is to make sure you choose an obvious, eye-catching case so that it is easy to spot when you collect it at the other end, and make sure your case has a lock for your own peace of mind.

Entertainment
Hopefully there will be some in-flight entertainment which is especially probable if you’re on a long-haul flight but if not, make sure you take plenty of things to entertain yourself with. Flights can be lengthy and can feel quite tedious, as you are in a confined space with little opportunity to stretch your legs or find inspiration in your surroundings. Take books and download films onto a tablet, and don’t forget headphones and a charger!

Paperwork
First and foremost, make sure you have your passport as you will not be allowed to fly without it under any circumstances. If you’re flying internationally, make sure it is at least three months before your passport expiry date too. Secondly, make sure you have downloaded or printed off your boarding pass which you get when you buy your ticket. It is your choice whether or not to get travel insurance, but it is highly recommended and a company like OneSure Insurance
some great deals. It is especially important to make sure you include health insurance as it can be a nightmare to try to access medical care in unfamiliar countries.

Don’t be afraid to fly; it can be a great adventure. Once you’ve done a couple of flights, you’ll soon have a preparation routine that you know off by heart, which will make flying a doddle. For more travel tips take a look at Onesliceoflemon.com.
