A few weeks ago I attended the Canderel breakfast event at the Marriott in London to learn all about sweeteners. I was able to bring a friend a long so I invited Lucy who I have known since uni to come along with me. Breakfast was held at the Parliament Suite which looks over at Big Ben and Parliament, the view was simply stunning with clear blue skies.
Soon as we arrive it was a hot cuppa straight away and obviously with Canderel if you take sugar! If you take sweetener its zero calories and there were 3 options available. Red being original and probably the most well known option. Each tablet is equivalent to a teaspoon of sugar but without the calories and they are so easy to use.
We headed straight to the food spread area to grab a few bits before the presentation started with Dr Hillary Jones. A number of the items available were made with Canderel including this delicious strawberry smoothie. I regret not taking a 2nd one after the presentation.
Muffins, croissants, scones, fresh fruit, yoghurt, pancakes were my favourite!
We couldn't leave without doing a selfie with Dr Hillary...think he must do them often because he knew exactly what to do with my camera and where to hold it.
Some interesting facts to share with you all.... "Obesity is one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK" The most recent health survey for England (HSE) data up to 2012 shows that 66% males / 58% females aged 16 or over are either overweight or obese. UK Governnment policy in 2013 has stated "heath problems associated with being overweight or obese cost the NHS more than £5 billion every year".
For those who are actually trying to lose weight or just trying to make small healthier changes in diet then replacing sugar with a low calorie sweetener is the smallest and easiest change you are able to make and be able to stick to it. Sweeteners provide few or no calories because they are very sweet so only a tiny amount provides the same sweetness as sugar.
Putting that pot of greek yoghurt with blackcurrant on the bottom on top my pancakes were super yummy along with dipping my croissant in...its making me hungry thinking about it again.
We were given a bag of products to take home to try and I am particularly excited to try the Yellow one for baking over the next few weeks. I have already sprinkled the original red tub over my pancakes I made the other week.
It was a very good enjoyable and informative morning and thank you to Canderel for having us! Will you be making any changes to your sugar in take? Zero or almost zero calories sound great right?!
Oooo everything looks so yummy and I never knew there where 3 kinds, I was only aware of the red and green.

No I didn't either and I always thought it was just the red original one. Looking forward to baking with the yellow one though and see how it tastes compared to normal sugar!
