Everyone loves eating strawberrys when they are in season right but have you heard of Jubilee Strawberries? Did you know there are over 30 home grown varieties but only one stands head and shoulders above the rest. Driscoll Jubilee are extra sweeter and much more flavoursome, succulent rich flesh, mouth watering taste is what sets the Queen of the crop apart and they differ significantly in both taste and quality!
There are so many ways to eat Strawberries and me being the lazy person I have been eating them the simple way from freshly washed, mixed in with cereal, with yoghurt, strawberry salad or making strawberry infused water.
According to the Jubilee Strawberry Guide some interesting info to share with you strawberry lovers!
How Long Should I Keep Strawberries In The Fridge?
“Eat your Jubilee strawberries on the day that you purchase them and if necessary keep them no more than 2 days in the fridge. When you take them out carefully make sure they are not bruised in any way. Then lay them on a piece of soft dry paper to enhance their flavour and they should last for an extra few days.”
What Is The Optimum Serving Temperature For Jubilee Strawberries?
“Strawberries taste their best when served at room temperature, so take them out of the fridge an hour before you plan to use them, place them on a soft piece of paper on a windowsill full of sunshine and the flavour will be beautiful.”
How Should I Wash Them?
“Especially with these beauties, fill a bowl with tepid water and drop them in, then use your fingers gently with your hand open to lift them out carefully. The bits will fall to the bottom of the bowl and your Jubilees will be jubilant!”
What Brings Out The True Flavour Of Jubilee Strawberries?
“Whilst many believe strawberries are best served with sugar or champagne, Jubilee strawberries are really delicious and naturally sweet so adding something like a bit of spice like Basil or handfuls of mint work well as does a really good glug of orange liquor.”
