We finally started baby shopping last weekend and boy was it exhausting but I think that is partly due to me being such a bargain hunter. Soon as I find something I like I am searching crazy online to find the cheapest price and googling around for discount codes / free delivery etc...but for some things like clothes you do need to pop in store to pick so you can feel the material. So the first load of shopping is done and I am going back this week during late night shopping in John Lewis when its more quiet to finish it off and the rest is ordered online through amazon then I am done on buying essentials. I actually found it not as expensive as everyone makes out to be if you only buy the basics of what you need. I know a lot of people tend to over buy and think you need everything when in fact during the early stages you only need very little.
Now that essential shopping is almost complete I really need to start thinking about our "nursery" again not going over board I am only going to be buying what I need with a few splurges on the decor items but they will be mostly purchased through Etsy if cash flow is looking good and they are more finishing touches which are not essentials.
The main things I need to be buying for our nursery which is essential is a pull out double bed (guest bed) and a cot. Later on next year we plan to get built in wardrobes fitted which will just finish the room off nicely making everything tidy.
In terms of the pull out guest bed I am a little undecided which one to go for since there are lots of options online these days. I am guessing everyone is trying to save space and these guest / pull out beds are perfect for guest etc...The top picture is the classic Ikea version which can also be used as a sofa seating area when it's not being used as a bed or the bottom picture from Fishpools which is a simple pull out version which looks super comfy and great quality. Of course the nursery decor has to be in line with rest of my home decor colour scheme WHITE haha! Having looked in Ikea at the Hemnes version the mattress looks a little flimsy and it may need replacing quite quickly which if why I am looking at alternative option like Fishpools one which looks solid and more longer lasting. I am hoping to order everything end of this month so I can start sharing my nursery transformation with you all since you all love my home decor posts.
If any of you have any nursery decor / nursery inspo type posts please leave me a link in the comments box.
