Not long left to go until our little one arrives so we are trying to make the most of date nights / eating out at the weekends. We were recently invited to the newly refurbished *The Hut Beefeater in Chandlers ford for dinner. We pre booked our table for 6:30pm for Saturday thinking it wouldn't be as busy but how wrong was I....when we arrived the place was packed and completely booked out for the whole evening and we were lucky our table was just about ready when we arrived so we were seated straight away. I have actually forgotten how family friendly this place was which will come in handy next year! Since it's newly decorated he decor is bright and warming as we walked through to our table and the waiter from the front desk was very cheerful and polite. They have done a great job of the refurbishment making the whole restaurant bright and welcoming with warm colour tones making it very inviting and pleasing to the eye.
We arrived before 6:30pm so we were offered the lunch menu from £4.99 and the evening menu but we decided to opt for the evening menu as hubby wanted the huge rack of ribs for mains. So for starter we decided to go for the new Beefeater Sharing Platter to share with a bit of everything. The platter came with spicy piri piri chicken wings which were too spicy for me but hubby enjoyed them, crispy breaded flat cap mushrooms which are always a favourite of mine especially dipped in the ranch sauce. Lime potato dippers, I didn't really taste the lime but again dipped in ranch sauce they were amazing and lastly grilled chimichurri flatbread. The platter came with 3 sauces ranch, blue cheese and smoky BBQ. The portion is generous and probably a little too much for 2 people even with my pregnancy appetite so we didn't finish the flat bread.
For mains I went for the classic Beer Battered Cod & Chips served with triple cooked chips and classic peas and tartare sauce. It's been a while since I've eaten fish and chips and certainly not in a restaurant / pub so it was a nice change.
Hubby went for the New Mega Ribs which is also new to the menu...yes he was feeling rather hungry that day! This dish was created with big appetites in mind....a huge rack of slow cooked pork ribs cooked in bourbon BBQ sauce and served with chunky slaw, skinny fries and beer battered onion rings. The ribs look tough but surprisingly he said the meat was very tender and just fell off the bone.
I have to say after all that sadly there was no room left for pudding. I had my eye on one of these delicious looking Rasberry Bakwell served with warm custard. The lovely staff there tried to tempt me but no we were both too full...next time we will skip starters or order something slightly smaller so we can fit in pudding.

Being the festive period I would highly recommend you booking otherwise you will be disappointed!
