Recently in Southampton there have been a number of new restaurants opening up with various offerings and the one that caught my eye is *The Stable because I LOVE pizza!!!! Hubby and I popped down early Saturday for supper to see what they have on offer. We arrived just after 6pm and it was already getting busy but lucky we book a table and got seated quickly.
The menu consisted a selection of pizza, pies, sides, salads and large selection of cider offerings. Hubby ordered a pint of Black Rat Perry and obviously soft drinks for me so a pint of OJ. Looking through the menu we wanted to try a bit of everything so we decided to order the freshly made cheese garlic and parsley pizza bread. This was my favourite, it was thin based served warm seasoned with the perfect amount of garlic butter and cheese and a fresh sprinkle of parsley. I would quite happily pop in for a drink and order this to nibble on.
For mains I selected The Steak Out pie, can't really go wrong with a steak pie served with potato wedges, side salad and horseradish. The filling inside the pie was generous with chunky cuts of meat exactly how I like it. Hubby opted for The Hampshire Hog - Cured Coppa and Lomo, delicious cured pork on fresh tomato sauce with mozzarella topped with peppery rocket and dressed with their Dijon house dressing. We actually shared our dishes so we both get to try everything. I love how they put some salad in the middle and dressed it with some dressing, it makes it feel / look healthier! And of course I need my greens right now so we ordered a simple side salad. Looks like we ate a lot with the salad bowl looking rather full!

We finished just before 8pm and by then the place was completely packed full of diners or people just popping in for a few drinks. I am looking forward to popping back for a few drinks with friends next year. With over 60 offerings on cider I am sure I will find something I will like!
The food was served very quickly and absolutely delicious perfect for a weekday supper if you are feeling lazy to cook or a casual afternoon lunch over the weekend. Stables aren't just in Southampton there are various locations across UK find your nearest one here. This place is a great alternative to the usual chain / franchise restaurants you find in every town and the place has a great atmosphere at the weekends.
