FOODIE: Steak Of The Art (Ocean Village / Southampton)

I am back again with another amazing foodie in Southampton post to share with you all and this one is rather special! If you missed my previous ones on The Stables / Neighbourhood Southampton then you need to catch up! I have been to a few steak places in London as we lack quality steak houses in Southampton and my favourite has to be Goodmans which is highly rated in London so when I heard a new place has opened up to be honest I didn't have high hopes....how wrong was I! *Steak Of The Art opened in Southampton back in February and it's situated in Ocean Village hence the beautiful view below. We decided to visit a week before mother's day for an early celebration for myself and my mother in law who was visiting for the week. As usual we went for early dinner around 4:30pm so it's not too late for the little one and I expected it to be less busy or at least past the rush hour lunch session.
The restaurant is very big spread across 2 floors, as you can see from the photos it's decorated to a very arty modern design. We were sat on the 2nd floor in this very swish birds nest round table - see photo below! This was the best seat in the entire restaurant as it over looks Ocean Village marina.
We were seated very quickly and given the menu to make our selection. The menu offers a wide variety of steaks with all the classics sirloin, fillet, rib eye etc... If you are not a meat eater then there is a good variety of fish selection, salads and not to forget the little one there is a kids selection also. We decided to order a steak each along with some sides to share along with a few different sauces to try out. There is also a good selection of drinks including a variety of red wine to go with your red meat.
My flat iron steak 200g cooked to medium rare with sweet potato fries.
Classic tender Sirlion 200g cooked to rare with sweet potato fries.
Well marbled Rib Eye steak 200g cook to rare with hand cut chips
For sides we ordered garlic chilli tiger prawns, rocket tomato parmesan salad, buttered garlic spinnach and mac n cheese.
Sauces: Hollandaise, Bearnaise, Red Wine Jus and Peppercorn
We all enjoyed our meal very much. The steaks were all cooked to perfection and the sweet potato fries never disappoint. The only thing I would say was the salad was slightly over seasoned with salt so it was a little salty for my liking but it was no big deal and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The quality of the meat was to a very high standard, if they are able to offer a specials board occasionally offering the likes of wagyu or kobe beef then it would be even better!!!
The private function room upstairs round the corner from where we sat...perfect for those big dinner parties!
