PLACES TO EAT IN PORTSMOUTH - The Briny Restaurant & Seafood Bar

We visited The Briny a few months back when it was newly opened in Portsmouth Southsea. It's situated along the Southsea front with amazing waterfront views on a sunny or stormy day its a great location. We went during lunch so it was a lite bite to eat for all of us with a drink before we headed to the arcades with the little one.
We ended up ordering 2 starters to share between the three of us and they were super yummy. Brixham Bay potted crab with some bread / herb butter and side garnishes. My girl really enjoyed this and kept asking for more....so much that there wasn't really much left for me and hubby! The actual crab content in the pot was very generous so it was full of flavour.
We also ordered a side of ponzu smoked salmon with bread / herb butter and side garnishes which was also very good. However on reflection we should have ordered two portions of the crab as it was so meaty but we wanted to try a bit of everything for the first time.
For mains we ordered a starter portion of the mussels with local ale, celeriac, apple and served with beer bread. Hubby ordered the main course portion which was huge...little one ate the entire starter portion which was also very generous. The mussels were of a good size and pretty fat and juicy!
We enjoyed our meal here although a tad pricey in my opinion, however great for celebrations. We went on a lovely sunny day so the queue was rather long, hubby just watched the little one scoot up and down on her scooter while I waited inside. It is baby friendly, I cant remember if they have a kids menu as we didn't order from but it certainly is child friendly!
