We were invited back in February this year to review the lovely afternoon tea at The Bell Inn in the beautiful New Forest. I have been so busy with life mainly consisting of working full time and mummy duties that I have only just had time to write up this review because I am having a childfree weekend.
The Bell Inn is situated in the New Forest park, the hotel has been in the same family since 1782. The restaurant serves modern British cuisine, there is a bar area with a lounge and a fire place. In the summer there is also the outside garden and just next to is is a golf course which is very popular. Being in the heart of the new forest there are wild horses roaming around, there and judging by the photo I took below this is to stop the horses getting onto the golf course which sits behind the hotel. The horses here just roam around as they please and they are so use to cars they don't even bother looking at you when you fairly close to them.
If you know me well then you will know I love nothing more than traditional afternoon tea. I love the soft sandwiches and the warm plain scones, not a huge fan of the sweets as by then I am usually very full. A lot of places in London do themed ones which look super pretty, not cheap but I just enjoy my sandwiches / scones!
There are 4 different afternoon tea's available and booking is usually required as everything is made fresh. We opted for the Forest Afternoon Tea for 2 and the little one shared with us, there was more than enough to go round for the 3 of us.

Scones served warm is a must for me so the clotted cream melts a little with the jam.
We really enjoyed it here and left feeling very full. We sat in the restaurant area, took our time eating away and the little really enjoyed it too. You can take as long as you like, nothing was rushed and the service was great and very child friendly. We did go rather late around 3pm when lunch service was coming to an end so it was less busy, by the time we left they were starting to set up the table ready for evening service. New Forest is such a lovely place for all ages with a lot of hotel / camp sites scattered around so it's great all year round. I would highly recommend popping in for lunch / afternoon tea if you are in the area.
